About me
Carolyne Whelan spends as much time as she can outdoors. She loves wide open spaces, travel, and living beings. She coaches writers on how to love their work enough to edit it at Forward Motion Writing. She is the recipient of the Jan-ai Fellowship to the Murphy Winter Writing Conference, Ralph Waldo Emerson Fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, a scholarship to the Community of Writers at Lake Tahoe, as well as to the Tupelo Press Truchas Peaks Conference. Her first chapbook, The Glossary of Tania Aebi, was published by Finishing Line Press. Her poetry has appeared in Sugar House, Majestic Disorder, Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel, The Taos Journal of International Poetry and Art, and others. Her prose has appeared in Sierra, ESPN, Bicycling, Belt, Keystone Courier, and many others. Previously, she's been the editor-in-chief of Adventure Cyclist and Dirt Rag magazines and editorial director at Overland Expo, and held other editorial positions as well. She lives in Missoula, Montana where she can often be found with dirt on her face.
