Maia Buschman is a lifelong nature lover and writer whose Leopold journey began in college with the essay "Thinking Like a Mountain." She eventually became a Future Leaders Fellow with the Aldo Leopold Foundation in 2023-24, and during that time she investigated the intersection of wilderness and eco-grief in Leopold's writings through a long-form video project entitled "Never to Revisit." In her continued work with the Foundation—now as Digital Communications Coordinator—Maia has explored Leopold and the land ethic in countless ways, whether on social media through humorous memes or educational spotlights, or through philosophical, journalistic, or autobiographical blog pieces on our website. Ultimately, her goal is to interpret Leopold's ideas for a contemporary audience and, in so doing, inspire thoughtful, caring relationships with the earth.
