About me
Jessica is a freelance journalist who covers nature, the outdoors, and wildlife conservation—plus the occasional detour into food and dogs (because life is better with both). As an Ohio-based writer, she’s especially drawn to stories rooted in the Midwest and Appalachia, shedding light on the people and places often overlooked or misrepresented. Her work has appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian, Trails Magazine, Sierra Magazine, and many others. She’s a board member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and a 2026 Alicia Patterson Fellowship recipient. When she’s not at her desk, she can be spotted reading on a plane, on the sideline of her son's baseball games, or paddling down the Ohio River.
