About me
Ben Gubits grew up exploring the red rocks and mountain landscapes of Colorado, spending his childhood skiing, snowboarding, fly fishing, and developing a lifelong connection to the outdoors. His time studying in Durango deepened both his love for wild places and his commitment to protecting them through civic engagement and advocacy.
Ben’s career has spanned democracy reform, political strategy, candidate campaigns, and climate advocacy. He previously served as Co-founder and National Political Director of American Promise, a cross-partisan organization working to reduce the influence of big money in politics and overturn Citizens United. Over the course of his career, Ben has worked on federal and statewide candidate campaigns, ballot initiatives, and advocacy efforts across the country, developing expertise in campaign strategy, communications, grassroots organizing, coalition building, and public affairs. He later served as Vice President at the Erikson Group, advising congressional campaigns and advocacy organizations on strategy and communications.
Today, Ben serves as Vice President of Advocacy and Campaigns at Protect Our Winters, where he leads national campaigns focused on climate action, clean energy, public lands, and mobilizing the outdoor community to protect the places and experiences they love.
Ben also serves on the Advisory Board of Rank the Vote. Outside of work, he can usually be found in the mountains or rivers of the Northeast with his wife, Amy, and their two kids, Lailah and Judah.
