About me
Matthew Schultz is the Program Manager with the non-profit organization Sportsmen for the
Boundary Waters, where he’s fought to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for
the past three years through advocacy, stewardship, and education.
Having grown up in Minnesota, visiting the Boundary Waters every summer, Matthew has had a
passion for wild places his entire life. After graduating from high school, he joined the United
States Navy where he had the opportunity to hunt, fish, and camp on public lands all over the
country, educating his unique perspective into the value of conservation efforts and the
traditions that draw people to wild places everywhere.
Now, as someone who lives right outside the Boundary Waters, Matthew spends his time away
from work adventuring in the Wilderness and writing about his experiences, using his love of the
resource to drive his passion for protecting it.
